SUMMARY:

The Relief Technician must stay familiar with standard operating procedures related to duties. Relieves various technicians in Filling and Packaging areas. Maintains cap supply and cleans area around filler. Must maintain area and equipment in a safe and sanitary condition. Required to learn to perform all duties and operate equipment on all lines within that job classification. Work in other areas as assigned when not needed to relieve. Perform preventative maintenance and lubricate as required by TPM procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Perform manual tasks which support the continuous operation of the production lines. Such duties may include, but not be limited to:
    • Sweeping, mopping and washing of floors and equipment.
  • Operation and simple maintenance of equipment for which the associate is trained.
  • Rotate duties with other workers at other locations in the plant as required.
  • Ability to learn and apply operational skills required to operate filler and packaging machines in a safe and effective manner to provide relief to operators on break or who may be absent.
  • Perform simple quality inspections of product, materials and ingredients to assure compliance to standards.
  • Maintain records and paperwork related to inventory and quality.
  • Perform changeovers as required.
  • Perform other duties required of the position or as directed.
  • Perform all TPM requirements of position including preventative maintenance and lubrication.

 

EDUCATION:  

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent attention to details and accuracy required.
  • Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Great work attitude, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work overtime on short notice basis.  Long-term, temporary assignments to any shift may be required to maintain manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.

  • Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
  • Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
