Position Overview

The Utility Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient setup, operation, and cleanup of stackers, conveyors, and related equipment. This role serves as a key support to the machine crew, ensuring production runs smoothly and materials are handled accurately. The Utility Technician will follow all safety, quality, and production procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential for success in this position. 

Responsibilities

·    Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures
·    Collaborate with team members to meet production goals
·    Read MacOps program and machine schedules to understand customer specifications
·    Verify incoming materials for correct sheet sizes
·    Identify correct stacking patterns and print load tags
·    Ensure proper use of bottom sheets and tie sheets per specifications
·    Identify and report non-conforming materials (e.g., warped sheets)
·    Communicate machine issues to the operator or supervisor
·    Maintain a clean and safe work environment with a “clean as you go” attitude
·    Perform line clearance checks before starting the next order
·    Inspect boxes during runs and report quality issues
·    Complete accurate records, including sheet counts and unit appearance
·    Monitor and report changes in ink pH and viscosity
·    Assist with machine setup once primary tasks are completed
·    Organize and monitor the bottom sheet area
·    Perform other duties as assigned by supervision or management

 

Qualifications

·    Ability to meet job requirements with or without accommodation
·    Positive attitude and ability to contribute to a team-oriented environment
·    Ability to read, write, and speak English
·    Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler
·    Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
·    Willingness to learn and follow instructions
·    Strong communication and problem-solving skills
