Summary:

The CFO is responsible for directing the development and maintenance of the  Bank’s strategic financial plans and policies; monitors the Bank’s performance against established financial goals and objectives; directs the preparation of various financial reports for review by Senior Management and the Board of Directors as well as SEC reports; helps to implement and coordinate accounting systems;     ensures the existence of, and adherence to, operating procedures and internal controls for accounting-related activities; coordinates the compliance with regulatory policy relating to accounting systems and practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Chairs the Bank’s Asset Liability Committee (ALCO);
  • Works closely with the loan and retail areas to strategically plan for liquidity needs and uses, set appropriate loan and deposit pricing, and position the Bank for present and future needs;
  • Ensures compliance with the Bank’s Asset Liability Policy, Capital Management Policy, Derivative Policy, and Investment Securities Policy;
  • Oversees the Investment Officer and the securities portfolio of the Bank and Holding Company;
  • Oversees the Controller and all accounting-related banking functions;
  • Oversees the preparation of the Securities and Exchange Commission reporting requirements, including the preparation of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K in both EDGAR and XBRL;
  • Oversees monthly and quarterly Federal income tax calculations and coordinates review with external accountants;
  • Presents the Bank’s and Holding Company’s financial results to the Board at monthly Board meetings;
  • Facilitates the preparation and review of the quarterly Report to Shareholders and the Earnings Press Release;
  • Manages the investment in and accounting for bank owned life insurance (BOLI);
  • Analyzes and implements new initiatives attached to Strategic Planning goals or profitability targets. This may include development of new business ventures or segments, new loan/deposit pricing  systems, and/or product, customer, and branch profitability;
  • Researches new accounting and regulatory standards;
  • Provides Finance & Control input to the Annual Report process under the direction of Marketing;
  • Interfaces with internal accounting firm, external accounting firm, and regulators;
  • Manages shareholder activities including dividend payments, stock repurchases, and stock issuances through internal plans;
  • Analyzes the organization’s capital plan and implements strategies to cover capital needs and position the Bank for future success including management of subordinated debt;
  • Oversees and participates in the quarterly calculation of the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL);
  • Presents Bank and Holding Company policies as they relate to the financial function to the Board of Directors on an annual basis;
  • Member of Executive Team, Senior Management Team, Investment Committee,, and Enterprise Risk Management Committee;
  • Is encouraged to take an active part in community life through membership and participation in civic organizations;
  • Performs such other duties as may be required by the office. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree within Finance, Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • 15 years of applicable experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
  • The ability to read and interpret regulatory and accounting literature.
  • A good working knowledge of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Functional understanding of Windows-based spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Flexibility in working hours, particularly when meeting deadlines is crucial.
  • Aptitude for math and accounting
  • A high degree of confidentiality
  • The ability to complete tasks by specified cut-off times
  • The ability to think analytically, to solve problems, and to make decisions

Supervises: Staff within the finance division. 

 

Work Environment:

 

This job operates in a professional work environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, monitors, mouse, keyboard, phones, printers, scanners, photocopiers, filing cabinets, calculator, and fax machines. Due to physical location of this position, phone ringing , and people conversing, it may be difficult to hear at times and therefore easily distracting.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

 

This is a full-time position. Flexibility in schedule is required, particularly when meeting deadlines, and is crucial including possible periods of overtime.
