Position Overview

The Sustainable Operations team ensures the Foundation’s workplaces are safe, efficient, and aligned with its sustainability goals. Through strategic oversight of facilities, workplace administration, logistics, and vendor management, the team integrates environmentally conscious practices into daily operations. It leads efforts in net-zero and sustainability strategy, implementation, and performance tracking, while fostering innovation and cross-functional collaboration. By managing infrastructure, space planning, and internal services across locations, the team supports a high-quality, inclusive, and future-ready work environment.
 
Workplace Experience: Leads workplace operations in the DC office, including reception, front-of-house services, and employee experience initiatives. Ensures welcoming, efficient, and sustainable services and processes that reflect organizational values, support employee engagement, and are aligned with the organization's climate strategy.


Pay Range: $120,369 -$138,261. This represents the present low and high ends of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

 

Work Schedule: This role is based in Washington, DC, and required to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Workplace Experience: Leads workplace operations in the DC office, including reception, front-of-house services, and employee experience initiatives. Ensures a professional, welcoming environment that supports staff engagement and organizational culture.
  • Office Administration and Space Management: Manages office administration, space allocation, and access control in DC. Coordinates workspace setup and reconfiguration, partnering with facilities to optimize space utilization and support operational needs.
  • Travel Services: Manages global travel services, ensuring alignment with organizational travel policies and sustainability goals. Supports intuitive, self-service travel systems and vendor coordination. Collaborates with finance on proactive corporate card administration.
  • Financial and vendor management: Co-manages contract and invoice processing across both offices, ensuring timely approvals and accurate documentation. Supports vendor onboarding and compliance with organizational standards and sustainability objectives.
  • Cross Office collaboration: Leads special projects in DC that are across teams to enhance operational efficiency and employee experience. Collaborates with other managers in Sustainable Operations and cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in workplace solutions and continuous improvement across locations.
  • Manages the Facilities Coordinator.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Wide-ranging professional experience and a full understanding of workplace and travel management, including sustainable travel knowledge. Other sustainability aptitude preferred.
  • Generally expected to have 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelors required; Masters preferred.
