Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and recidivism. Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent, affordable, and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $80 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs.

The Doe Fund is seeking a Philanthropic Engagement Coordinator, eager to engage the broader community in our critical mission. Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement, the Coordinator will serve as the direct contact person for our Young Professionals Council, develop and implement meaningful corporate engagement leading to philanthropic investment, collaborate with the Communications team on a robust monthly direct mail strategy, and support the implementation of The Doe Fund's special events.

Direct Mail Campaign and Individual Giving (FY’26 Target: $3.2 million overall)

  • Partner with The Doe Fund’s Communications team to implement approximately 12 direct mail campaigns per year, including collaborating on content development, list management, and mail house engagement.
  • Be a team player toward reaching goals and contributing ideas to course correct as necessary.
  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level donors primed to expand to major donor level through one-on-one engagement, programmatic updates as appropriate, and invitations to events and other strategies..

Special Events (FY’26 Target: $1.85 million overall)

  • Provide significant support on The Doe Fund’s annual gala (spearheaded by the VP of Philanthropic Engagement and SVP of External Affairs), including:
    1. Coordinate donor and prospect outreach across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
    2. Partner with the team to identify meaningful in-room opportunities to support the organization.
    3. Provide logistical support, including supporting the liaison with the venue, coordinating tastings, ensuring timely mailing of materials, responding to donor inquiries, ensuring accurate guest list information, and more.
  • Partner with the VP, YPC, and broader External Affairs team to execute new and additional fundraising events.

Young Professionals Committee

  • Support The Doe Fund’s Young Professionals Committee, currently composed of 20+ professionals representing finance, law, the arts, and other key sectors; support in scheduling and facilitating meetings and events, providing fundraising collateral and tools, coordinating matching gifts, and more.
  • Partner with the YPC to develop and implement creative engagement activities, such as mock interviews, gift drives for TDF residents and families, social engagement, and more.

Other

  • Facilitate the donor acknowledgement process every week
  • Coordinate and implement mock interview events
  • Field all in-kind donation requests
  • Field all volunteer inquiries
  • Coordinate acquiring and sending gifts to donors as necessary
  • Order supplies

Qualifications

  • College degree
  • Interest in and commitment to issues of homelessness prevention, recidivism prevention, workforce development, and related
  • The necessary degree of personal and professional confidence and presence to engage with The Doe Fund’s President & CEO, Board of Directors, YPC, leadership staff, participants in The Doe Fund programming, and the broader community;
  • An ability to adhere to a hybrid schedule, working in person as needed for special events, corporate engagement, donor tours, and other opportunities
  • Computer literacy
  • Familiarity with a donor database is a plus
  • A strategic thinker who can see “the big picture” while not losing sight of the details, in addition to having creative energy and an entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Superior organizational skills.
