ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND STANDARDS:
OUTREACH AND ENROLLMENT:
- Coordinate the development and implementation of community outreach activities for the purpose of identifying uninsured children, determining eligibility, providing application assistance and enrolling them in Medicaid, the Health Insurance Marketplace or the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
- Receive continued training on, learn and teach others the eligibility and application processes for Medicaid, CHIP, and the Marketplace.
- Contact and communicate with individual families by various means to remove barriers to enrolling their children in CHIP, Medicaid and the Marketplace.
- Travel to reach families in their homes, at community events, or by other means.
- Must have reliable, insured vehicle and be willing to drive in adverse weather conditions.
- Assist eligible families in completing Medicaid and CHIP applications, track application status with the State, follow up as needed with families, and report on outcomes.
- Form partnerships with other tribal entities/programs, county and local organizations, and the State to coordinate and improve effectiveness of outreach and enrollment activities.
- In collaboration with the IT Manager, create data collection tools, including quarterly reporting required by grant and a database and reporting mechanism for the collection and reporting of project data elements.
- Determine data elements, create data reports, analyze data, and report to State and other agencies on a quarterly basis.
- Participate in peer learning opportunities and attend local and regional meetings as needed.

PATIENT REGISTRATION:
- Greet patients and visitors in polite, prompt and helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions including insurance co-pays, medical records requests, etc.
- Registers new patients and established patients; uses multiple software systems to track patient processing and generate information necessary for billing.
- Update patient insurance information and demographic, collects and records co-payments as backup to front desk, provides any necessary forms needing completion, and obtains required signatures as necessary.
- Maintains yearly update on each established patient.
- Assists patients with sliding fee application updates.
- Responsible for insurance pre-authorizations for insurances for medical visits
- Responsible for entering all new insurances in the EHR system.
- Scan all necessary documentation in patient insurance files
- Review admission packet with patients if necessary and collect all necessary information.
- Contact insurance representative as necessary to verify type and extent of coverage.
- May process incoming and outgoing mail as backup for front desk personnel.
- May receive incoming telephone calls and resolve issues as backup for the front desk personnel.
