Position Summary:
The Recovery Group Coordinator facilitates inclusive, strengths-based group sessions to support individuals participating in an inpatient recovery program. This role is responsible for developing engaging, skill-building groups that promote well-being, emotional regulation, and community connection. The Group Coordinator collaborates with clinical and support teams to align group content with individualized treatment goals, fosters a trauma-informed group culture, supports participant orientation, and documents group engagement and progress.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical/Technical Skills (40% of performance review)
- Facilitate group sessions on life-enhancing topics
- Adapt group content based on participant feedback, strengths, and evolving needs.
- Lead daily orientation for new participants, offering clear expectations and fostering a welcoming group culture.
- Collaborate with clinical and program staff to ensure group sessions reinforce individualized treatment
- Build respectful, trusting relationships to encourage group participation and peer connection.
- Observe and document group dynamics, engagement, and areas of strength or growth.
- Assist in identifying skills gained through group work to support discharge and aftercare planning.
- Identify behaviors that may benefit from additional support or clinical attention and communicate with the care team.
- Promote emotional and physical safety using de-escalation techniques and by modeling respectful group conduct.
- Model and reinforce program guidelines that support safety, structure, and consistency.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Safety (15%)

Qualifications
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related fields. Must be able to obtain CADC certification within six (6) months of hire date. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
- Maintains education and development appropriate for position.
Experience
- Required: Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience in substance abuse setting as a counselor or group facilitation experience
