Summary:   

As part of our treatment services program, the Licensed Clinician will ensure the program philosophy is carried out in the daily operations of the residential program. This includes development and provision of staff training, development, programming, environments and vision for the program. Individual, group, and family therapy as well as clinical support to the clients is an integral part of this position.

Treatment Coordination:

  • Assesses therapeutic needs of each client and provides individual, family and group therapy as well as alternative therapies (i.e.equine, music, art, etc.)
  • Maintains a weekly schedule of therapy appointments for individuals, groups, and families.
  • Maintains a flexible schedule (to include evenings and weekends when appropriate) to meet the needs of clients and families.
  • Ensures best practices for clients and their families within the residential program.
  • Evaluates the progress of client’s therapeutic treatment goals.
  • Understands the cultural diversity of clients and team members to better serve our clients.
  • Develops mutually respectful relationships with our referring agencies, caseworkers, case managers, clients in care and families.
  • Appropriately intervenes to meet the needs of our clients and their families and to help our clients and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems and prepare for discharge and return to the school, home and community setting of origin.
  • Works as a partner with other team members including treatment team, Child and Family Team meetings, and community staffing meetings.
  • Communicates with Program Manager, Equestrian Manager, and Operations Director to review progress of each client.
  • Meets with the other clinicians to discuss issues relevant to therapy of the clients and their families in the treatment program.
  • Meets on a weekly to bi-monthly basis and as needed for supervision as determined with the Clinical Director.
  • Professionally represents the Agency in the community especially around relevant issues impacting clients and families with mental health diagnosis.
  • Attends outside Agency meetings as needed (i.e. court review hearing, DSS and mental health reviews, and maintaining strong relationships with local mental health personnel and consumer advocacy groups).

Training & Education:

  • Participates in any training sessions deemed necessary for the enhancement of the treatment program.
  • Provides or coordinates training to direct care staff on issues relevant to the needs of clients in the program (including but not limited to trauma-informed care).

  • Attends workshops and seminars for continued education and development and provides clinical consultation to direct care staff as needed or requested by Program Manager, Medical Director, Equestrian Manager, or administrative personnel.

Treatment:

  • Attends scheduled direct care staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Participates in discussions regarding the on-going treatment of clients and/or families in order to provide input and direction with Program Supervisors, Case Managers, and other staff working with the clients and families.
  • Assists in admission of new clients into the treatment program with accompanying paperwork.
  • Provides initial and updated assessment, Person Centered Plan (PCP) and updated PCP, discharge plans, and supporting documentation for care coordination.
  • Ensures that all necessary therapeutic materials are available to support the intervention methods and philosophy of care.
  • Provides weekly individual therapy, weekly group therapy, and bi-monthly family sessions.
  • Daily interaction with residential clients in a clinical setting required.

Therapy Summaries:

  • Maintains appropriate documentation including therapy notes of all sessions including individual, group and family sessions, preparing reports for progress summaries, discharge reports, and court reports when needed.
  • Updates and submits documentation for the re-authorization of care via appropriate utilization review of documentation according to established schedule.

Position Specifications and/or Education: 

A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy or related field required. Provisional licensure as a LPCA, LCSWA, LMFTA or related license is required, full licensure preferred. Four years of experience working with children and/or families in a mental health or residential treatment setting are preferred. Must have the ability to respond effectively within and cope with an environment that can be extremely stressful on the mind and body. Position requires driving agency vehicles as well as transporting clients. A valid NC driver’s license, at least three years of driving with a driver’s license and clean driving record are required. All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test and an extensive background check. Staff must be at least 23 years of age to work with clients ages 12 – 17. 

Physical Requirements: 

Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility. Staff must be agile enough to control and rapidly extricate him/herself and youths from buildings in case of an emergency. Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered. This program does require staff to be able to maintain sufficient physical agility and stamina to intervene with uncooperative youths and must be able to exert the minimum necessary strength to restrain and subdue the youth if necessary. Staff must be capable of running a distance as required in the prevention of a youth absconding.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position does not oversee staff.
