About the role: 
 
Ampol’s Delivery team acts as strategic enabler to our transformation and our operating model, ensuring we responsibly invest in the right priorities to maximise value, consistently deliver impactful outcomes and align Tech, Digital & Data (TDD) to Ampol Group’s strategic goals and outcomes.    

 

The Portfolio Governance & Performance Analyst will work to uplift visibility, consistency, and governance across the TDD portfolio leveraging portfolio management frameworks, processes, and tooling. This role delivers accurate insights, maintains portfolio data, tracks and improves portfolio performance, facilitates effective prioritisation and investment decisions, drives planning practices, and improves risk management to increase portfolio value, efficiency, and stakeholder confidence. 

 

You’ll take us further by: 

 

  • Manage, execute, and optimise day-to-day operation of portfolio governance and management frameworks, processes, standards, documentation, and tooling to drive visibility, efficiency, consistency, compliance, and confidence across the TDD portfolio. 
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret portfolio performance data (health, risk, progress, KPIs, investment outcomes, etc) and coordinate reporting cycles to generate actionable insights and recommendations that lead to increased portfolio performance, efficiency, and measurable value. 
  • Facilitate portfolio governance forums, demand and intake processes, prioritisation, and investment planning cycles to ensure transparent decision-making, clear accountability, and effective stakeholder engagement. 
  • Support and guide effective portfolio management by enabling the adoption of tools, templates, and best practices; maintain an accurate portfolio knowledge base that supports ease-of-use for all stakeholders. 
  • Portfolio Analysis & Reporting – Tracking KPIs, benefits tracking, financial reporting, and health checks across projects/programs. 
  • Data & Tool Proficiency – Advanced Excel/ with PPM tools (Clarity, ServiceNow, Jira). Should be able to interrogate data and stitch together views across fragmented systems. 
  • Financial Acumen – Budget tracking, variance analysis, ROI/NPV understanding, benefits baseline/realisation tracking.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving – Ability to slice through noise, identify trends, and recommend actions (not just produce reports).
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement – Able to work with Business, PMs, PMO, Finance, and execs. Pack prep, concise messaging, storytelling with data.

 

We’d love it if you have:  

 

  • Proven experience in portfolio or project management, with a strong understanding about governance frameworks, demand and capacity management, and the techniques and measures used to support sound investment and prioritisation decisions that increase portfolio performance, efficiency, and measurable value. 
  • Skilled in managing and improving portfolio financials including budgeting, forecasting, tracking actuals, and supporting investment planning and benefits realisation. 
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills with the ability to interpret data, monitor portfolio health, and report clearly on portfolio performance, risks, and compliance. 
  • An understanding about optimising portfolio performance by identifying and leveraging key constraints such as funding, resourcing, time, and delivery capacity to maximise value and throughput.  
  • Exposure to Governance Processes, having worked with investment gating, demand intake, prioritisation, or benefits management.
  • Experienced in Multi-Methodology Environments, understanding of both agile and waterfall reporting; able to aggregate hybrid delivery data.
