Role Overview

Sustain and improve military readiness by the delivery of standardized individual, collective, and self-development training to Soldiers, Leaders, and units through the application of multiple means using new and emerging architectures and technologies with synchronous and asynchronous student-instructor interaction.  Additionally, to work with headquarters to interface existing and new technologies to provide comprehensive and flexible audio and video conferencing for command and control, operational contingencies, and morale and welfare support.

You will monitor and respond to complex technical harware and software problems utilizing a variety of tools and techniques. 

 

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $49,114.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Install network software/hardware.
  • Train users on network software/hardware.
  • Provide problem solving or determination and support to ensure proper escalation during periods of outages.
  • Provide internal analysis during periods of degraded system performance.
  • Perform studies to define solutions.
  • Provide integrated customer support to all users on hardware/software problems.
  • Attend all meetings involving server hardware.
  • Provide interface with vendor support services groups.
  • Assist in the evaluation of vendor products to determine which best meets needs.
  • Present information to management regarding purchase of hardware, software and modem equipment.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • an Associate's Degree and 1+ year of experience, or 
  • a High School Diploma or HSE diploma and 3+ years of experience. 

Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of network PC/LAN communications hardware/software.
  • Extensive knowledge of local area network concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer programming including computer languages and testing of programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment used.
  • Extensive knowledge of most recent technical developments in the hardware field.
  • Ability to read and understand complicated technical manuals on hardware, software, database design and database administration.
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Considerable knowledge of network operating systems in use by Indiana State Government.
  • Considerable knowledge of networking protocols.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT)

  • Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one with the first 90 days of employment.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
