Description

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team studying the epigenetic mechanisms of HIV neuropathogenesis. This position will also explore the use of novel neurotechnologies to deliver long-acting antiretroviral therapies (LA-ART) and gene therapeutics to the brain using the simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV)-infected rhesus macaque model.

Current projects include:

  • Investigating how cannabinoids modulate neuroinflammation in HIV/SIV infection through epigenetic mechanisms.
  • Developing and testing new methods to increase blood-brain barrier permeability for improved delivery of LA-ART and enhanced viral suppression.

The Role:

  • Design and conduct molecular and cellular experiments.
  • Perform and troubleshoot a wide range of techniques, including tissue cell isolation, DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, cloning, single-cell/nuclei RNA/ATAC-seq, immunoprecipitation, western blotting, luciferase assays, multi-color flow cytometry, in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence, and data analysis.
  • Generate, interpret, and present data.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation and publication.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • A highly motivated candidate with a PhD, MD, or DVM in a related field.
  • Strong background in neuroscience research preferred.
  • Experience with neurotechnologies such as focused ultrasound or fMRI (data acquisition and analysis) is a significant plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge translational research with direct implications for improving HIV therapies.
