 Since 1984, Waccamaw Dermatology has proudly served as the Carolinas' award-winning premier dermatology provider across our 12 welcoming locations. We're excited to invite a skilled professional to join our Wilmington team as a Full-Time dual-role Histotechnologist/ Medical Assistant.  Medical Assistant Triage Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming patient calls, portal messages, and voicemails promptly
  • Gather detailed patient information for a multi provider, multi site practice to determine appropriate course of action for patients concerns
  • Use appropriate medical terminology and document patient reported issues in the EHR (EMA)
  • Provider empathetic and professional communication, escalating concerns to the proper leadership when necessary
  • Follow triage protocols to identify urgent vs non urgent concerns
  • Knowledge and experience of medications, procedures, and surgeries specific to dermatology
  • Provide wound care directions following triage protocols for general dermatology and Mohs surgeries.
  • Record all interactions in the EHR
  • Scheduling patients for wound checks when necessary

Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant experience or the equivalent medical background in a high-volume medical setting with the ability to read, write and interpret medical terminology, dermatology a plus.
  • Ability to speak other languages a plus.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Eligible for hybrid schedule after 90 days.
