Hands of Heartland is looking for compassionate and caring individuals to work with the people we support as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). We are hiring for multiple DSP positions in Lincoln, NE.
What You’ll Do: Work directly with people with developmental disabilities assisting and supporting them with day to day living activities.
- Day Center DSP, you will support and assist individuals with planned group-based or individual-focused activities at the day center and in community settings.
- Residential DSP, you will support and assist individuals with activities in a home environment and in community settings including meal planning, grocery shopping, or household chores.
- In-Home Support Professional as a DSP, you will support and assist individuals with their day to day living activities in a home environment and in community settings. This includes but is not limited to meal planning, grocery shopping, or household chores. You must display a strong sense of professionalism since you will be going into other people’s homes.
Key Responsibilities for all DSP positions:
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation, based on the individual’s level of need.
- Support the individual in developing and maintaining skills, which could include money management, household chores, self-advocacy, and communication. Based on individual's needs, goals, and support plan.
- Implement goals and objectives from the individual’s person-centered support plan and document progress as required.
- Monitor and promote the individual’s health and well-being while following safety protocols.
- Encourage social interaction and community inclusion through meaningful activities and relationship building.
- This position requires you to transport individuals in a motor vehicle.
Shifts Needed:
- Days, Evenings, Overnights with every other weekend required.
Shift Hours:
- Days 7a-3p or 8a-4p
- Evenings 3p-11p
- Overnights 11p-7p
- Flexible scheduling is available as some shift hours may vary depending upon the individual's needs
Skillset Needed for the Job: Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible and willing to adapt to change. Know the value of communication. Desire to support people and encourage them to reach goals.

Requirements: Must be 18 years old. Must have a valid driver’s license and car insurance. Must be able to pass all background checks. Experience not required.
Pay: $16 an hour is starting pay. We pay more for experience and if you have a CNA license. Incentives also available.
