Job Summary: The Manufacturing Production Design Engineer Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of orders for HOLT Manufacturing. This role coordinates across procurement, engineering, production, and field service teams to align capacity, material availability, and staffing with project delivery timelines. The planner also plays a key role in cross-functional business process alignment, supporting workflow standardization and communication between departments. 

 

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS)
  • Model, promote, reinforce, and recognize the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Develops and maintains short and mid-range capacity plans based on backlog, forecast, and sales order pipeline 
  • Forecasts shop load across sites, departments and work centers to proactively identify bottlenecks and labor gaps 
  • Collaborates with Operations, HR, and Production Supervisors to align shift structures and staffing with load requirements 
  • Drives visibility of capacity utilization and available-to-promise insights through ERP dashboards and planning tools 
  • Develops and maintains detailed production schedules for manufacturing work centers based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and engineering release timelines 
  • Coordinates with procurement to ensure timely availability of required materials and components 
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Project Management to align production schedules with project priorities and change orders 
  • Coordinates with Field Service teams to schedule and track outbound work, installations, and service interventions 
  • Monitors and adjusts schedules to respond to resource constraints, machine capacity, labor availability, and material shortages 
  • Communicates production and field service priorities and schedule changes to Service Managers and Operations Managers 
  • Analyzes work order progress and system accuracy; resolve scheduling conflicts and recommend solutions 
  • Tracks and reports key scheduling KPIs, including on-time delivery, production throughput, and schedule adherence 
  • Maintains scheduling data and production planning parameters in ERP system (Epicor preferred) 
  • Supports proactive planning for labor needs based on workload and capacity 
  • Leads and supports cross-functional initiatives to align business processes across planning, purchasing, production, and service delivery 
  • Participates in daily and weekly production meetings to ensure alignment across departments 
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, field service logistics, and cross-functional coordination 
  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred) and scheduling tools 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Gantt charting tools or scheduling dashboards is a plus 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to identify problems and generate solutions
  • Solid recordkeeping and document control to ensure compliance with company policy and procedures
  • Ability to delegate

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred 
  • Three or more years of experience in a production planning, scheduling, or materials coordination role in a manufacturing environment required
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Travel: 

  • Up to 10% travel may be expected between local sites and vendors 
  • Valid driver’s license required

 

Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position, standing, walking, and operating a forklift; additionally, occasionally kneeling, crouching, and stooping

  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

 

Work Environment:

  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment, in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoor conditions on jobsites
  • Ocassionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
