With the recent completion of Longwood Reimagined, Longwood Gardens is growing its premier Events business, offering unparalleled venues for a wide range of events - from corporate meetings and retreats to private celebrations, parties, and wedding receptions. We are seeking a full-time Media Services Operations Engineer to join our Event Operations team. The Media Services Operations Engineer will oversee all aspects of media technology, IT integration, and digital content delivery for events. This includes managing video, audio, streaming, presentation systems, projection mapping, and digital signage while ensuring reliable network infrastructure and system performance. Primary Responsibilities include:
- Conduct pre-event site inspections and planning meetings to assess media and IT requirements
- Collaborate with clients, presenters, and production teams to define goals and translate them into actionable media plans
- Plan, integrate, and operate all media and IT systems for live and virtual events—including video, audio, streaming, projection mapping, presentation systems, and digital signage
- Supervise internal staff and external vendors during setup, operation, and breakdown, ensuring safety and efficiency
- Monitor network infrastructure to support live streaming and interactive components
- Manage live streaming platforms, media playback, and projection systems in real time; troubleshoot technical issues to ensure seamless event delivery
- Test and ensure compatibility of content across media formats and platforms
- Oversee content management, including version control, archiving, and backup processes
- Maintain and upgrade media services equipment and IT systems; track inventory and recommend rentals, repairs, or replacements
- Develop and maintain SOPs for media and IT workflows
- Provide training and mentorship to AV and media staff
- Lead post-event evaluations to identify technical successes and areas for improvement
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in media services, AV production, or event technology management
- A degree or technical training in media technology, IT, or a related field preferred
- Strong working knowledge of live streaming platforms, AV control systems, projection mapping, media servers, and digital signage
- Proficiency in IT networking for events, including wired/wireless connectivity and troubleshooting
- Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills; able to stay calm under pressure
- Knowledge of cross-platform media formats, encoding, and playback systems
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Strong communication and hospitality skills
