The Student Success and Engagement division is the branch of the college that focuses on supporting students in reaching their higher education goals through direct student support, programming, and institutional implementation and oversight of structures and procedures for holistic student support. The division provides students with opportunities for cocurricular growth and supports the institutional mission of serving students equitably by providing programming, advocacy, and resources for students based on unique needs.

This position directly supports the mission by supporting students who are facing barriers and challenges that may disrupt the attainment of their educational goals. This is accomplished by retention efforts through intervention, advocacy, sharing of quality information, and securing tangible resources to help meet their needs.

Position Duties
Resource Center
- Create physical content, program, and policies from conceptual ideas; forming the Resource Center program and adapting the program to meet the current needs and trends of our student body.
- Research legislation for legislature being introduced that support students facing barriers in their education.
- Create surveys for institutional needs and assessing value and priorities for student needs.
- Research and apply for grants that are applicable to serving students with monetary support.
- Create programing around new grants and pilot programs. Assess, maintain/reimagine and provide programming for current grants.
- Responsible for grant management and reporting, as well as the point of contact with the governing entities.
- Interpret and implement State policies, create internal processes, for disbursement of all grants.
- Develop and implement processes and policies for disseminating financial and tangible resources to students.
- Budget oversite, management, and reconciliation for multiple streams of revenue. Grants, donations, emergency dollars through out OC Foundation office.
- Oversees security of tangible resources and policies for auditing purposes.
- Establishes efficiencies and efficacy standards within the office processes to streamline services.
- Oversees, develops, and maintains close working relationships with internal programs and external stakeholders in order to advocate for students.
- Provide information and referral to students regarding both internal and external resources and programs to assist their transition out of poverty and successfully into career pathways.
- Secure a strong knowledge base of community resources.
- Help students to overcome barriers to their educational success through situational advising, counseling, and supportive listening; helping them learn where to turn and how to manage their obstacles.
- Advocate for students when needed with internal programs, faculty, and staff to help eliminate barriers.
- Research community resources and programs to help fill the gaps in services for students.
- Students Emergency Assistance Grant / SEAG. Interpret and implement State policies, create internal processes and disburse $172,000 grants funds for emergency student aid. Continue to request dollars for this grant beyond the initial 2 years of operation.
- Supporting Students Experiencing Homelessness / Interpret and implement State policies, create internal processes and disburse $130,000 grants funds for homelessness / housing student aid. Continue to request dollars for this grant beyond the initial 2 years of operation.
- Collect data, analyze results, and adhere to required reporting for grants.
- Network and market needs of students with local communities.
- Create and develop marketing tools for faculty, staff, students, and community programs. Direct marketing of information for students about resources through website management, emails, phone, and in person.
- Work closely with the Olympic College Foundation Office to be a conduit for community dollars and commodities to help support students in financial emergency situations.
- Budget oversite, management, and reconciliation for multiple steams of revenue. Grants, donations, and emergency dollars through our Olympic College Foundation office.
- Oversee security of tangible resources and policies for auditing purposes.
- Establish efficiencies and efficacy standards within the office processes to streamline services.
- Support students with a large book lending library, acquiring new textbooks, apply for grants to help grow the library’s inventory, work with other departments to help get books to their populations, purchasing items from multiple pots of revenue.
- Develop, manage, support and coordinate activities to help students with resources. Example, OC Connect, bringing community programs and resources to students at a yearly event. Support SGOC Food Pantry with yearly food drives.
- Oversee, develop, and maintain close working relationships with internal programs and external stakeholders to advocate for students.
- Collaborate with multiple programs, divisions, and staff to help create a collection of resources for students.
- Supervise professional/support staff. Which includes hiring, evaluating, training, discipling, and recommending dismissal of staff as necessary.
- Create open door environment for all students to access the Resource Center office.
- Interpret, advise, and implement institutional policies and procedures.
- Hiring, supervision, and directing staff.
- Network with similar programs, attend statewide conferences and gatherings geared to help serve students with socioeconomic barriers, and attend teachings on poverty to help grow knowledge and understanding.
- Oversee and manage the program of the Opportunity Grant; $334,412 yearly allocation. Second allocation of approximately $152,000 may or may not continue after 2023/24.
- Interpret and implement State polices and RCW’s.
- Develop and implement processes and polices for disseminating funding.
- Develop new funding educational pathways (that the grant can fund) in accordance with State application process.
- Create spreadsheets to organize data, students, history, and budgets.
- Reconcile budgets to ensure targets are met.
- Create application and process, interview applicants, assess barriers, and line students up with grant’s required elements, awarding funding accordingly.
- Follow students through the academic year; helping through barriers, assessing situations, guidance, and advising on approved classes. Supportive listening and directing students to resources to help minimize barriers to their educational success.
- Record archiving.
- Corresponding with other colleges with student information, guidance, and program implementation processes.
- Corresponding with the State on guidance and interpretation of process and policies.
- When applicable join with other colleges with workshops and network to problem solve, program plan review, and support each other.
- Create marketing publications, advertise, and correspond with all students.
- Hiring, supervision, and directing staff.
Passport
- Implement the responsibilities being the State’s designated support staff to former foster-care youth and unaccompanied youth.
- Create and implement a viable plan of operation and submit document as requested by the State’s governing body.
- Recruitment plan; working with community care providers to help exiting Passport youth navigate towards college. Connecting with high school counselors and Independent Living Services to support these programs and potential students.
- Become an advocate and support for community programs that work with this marginalized and underserved population.
- Become an advocate and support for current Passport students. Helping them problem solve, find resources, and supportive listening.
- Advising students, when applicable, to help them have a plan to move forward in their educational process.
- Connect with former students that may have failed and left college; helping them to return.
- Researching all students who indicate foster care youth in applications processes to help move students through the Financial Aid process quickly.
- Create a safe environment where students can share and build trust.
- Celebrate birthdays and milestone moments.
- Create events to bring future and current students together; showcasing Olympic College programs and staff to help ease concerns and create a welcoming environment.
- Be a liaison between financial aid and students, advocacy to help ensure they get the resources they need.
- Oversee incentive dollars/revenue budget; using these dollars in accordance with State guidance to support students financially when applicable.
- Create marketing publications, advertise, and correspond with all students.
- Network with other community colleges and WSAC for yearly conferences to build knowledge and understanding on serving populations.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, human services, or related field.
- One-year experience in social work or human services in an educational setting.
- Proven experience with grants and budgets.

- Experience and knowledge in case management with adult students.

- Strong knowledge of community resources, programs, and services that may be available for students.

This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is $81,126 - $91,267 annually, which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
