Summary

 

The Nurse Manager/Educator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care planning for the respective neighborhoods to comply with Community Quality standards, State and Regulatory Compliance. Responsibilities include the development of all nursing service personnel, performance management, evaluation, monitoring staffing needs, policy and procedures, and communication with patients. 

 

Job Responsibilities


  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and evaluates Nursing Services program to ensure continuity of patients’ total regiment of care, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines; Participates in pre-admission assessment data collection; Manages admissions, transfers, and discharge patients as required
  • Supports, evaluates, and implements written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions
  • Ability to manage CIWA/COWS assessments, vitals, admissions and direct care as needed
  • Oversee staffing and schedules, assist with hiring, training,  and evaluating nursing staff, and willing to obtain Level 1 medication aide Instructor certification, and  ability to be on call.
  • In tandem with the Director of Nursing, maintains accurate staffing levels to meet patient care needs, including monitoring of over time
  • Monitors, evaluates, and recommends process improvements to meet quality, safety and risk management guidelines; Ensures compliance of reporting processes
  • Monitors and evaluates staff development needs including orientation, performance management, and leading of self-directed work teams 
  • Responsible for safe medication practices including compliance with standards, state and federal regulations; Provides regular monitoring of nursing practices
  • Promotes an environment that meets safety and infection control guidelines and regulations 
  • Participate in the maintenance of the procedures for equipment and reporting hazardous conditions of equipment.
  • Ensures that all nursing service personnel are knowledgeable of the patient’s rights and responsibilities including CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent patient and employee information to assure their privacy are protected.
  • Ensures coordination and timely completion of the admission process
  • Makes rounds to check on patients and staff to assure appropriate and safe care delivery; Identifies issues or concerns and intervenes when necessary
  • Reports and supports investigative protocols as it relates to staff or patient incidents and/or accidents in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Perform duties that may include direct patient care such as completion of resident assessments, treatments and administering medications
  • Responsible for facilitating the implementation of the care delivery model and processes, mentoring of staff, coordination and communication with other departments, while ensuring patient satisfaction


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Current RN license in state of practice
  • Graduate from an accredited/approved school of nursing
  • BSN preferred
  • Must be CPR certified
  • Minimum of 3 years’ nursing experience with 1 year management experience
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. 
  • Must be knowledgeable and skilled in nursing medical practices and procedures with emphasis in the geriatric population. 
  • Knowledgeable in clinical education, behavioral health and substance use disorders, knowledgeable about  substance use disorder medications and treatments,
  • Must be familiar with current laws, regulations, and guidelines. 
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care and personal growth.
  •  Must maintain a high level of professionalism and a cheerful disposition and willingness to handle difficult situations.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

 

  • Mobility & Stamina: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25–35 pounds (such as files, supplies, or small equipment).
  • Dexterity & Coordination: Requires sufficient hand–eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment and perform clinical demonstrations when needed.
  • Vision & Hearing: Adequate vision and hearing (with or without corrective devices) to read reports, monitor patient charts, observe staff performance, and participate in meetings.
  • Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to lead staff, interact with residents, families, and regulatory agencies.
  • Other Physical Demands: Occasional bending, reaching, or kneeling when reviewing clinical environments or assisting staff.
  • Environment: Work performed in a healthcare/long-term care facility setting, combining both administrative office work and clinical oversight on patient care units.
  • Exposure: Possible contact with bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, and bodily fluids when in clinical areas.
  • Pace & Stress: Duties involve high levels of responsibility and decision-making, often under tight deadlines and in emergency or crisis situations. Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Schedule: Primarily day shifts, but evenings, weekends, and holidays must be available as needed for emergencies, inspections, or staffing coverage.
  • Leadership Environment: Frequent interaction with executive leadership, physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and external agencies. Requires maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and composure in sensitive or stressful situations.
