The Program Chair of Management leads the Bachelor of Science Management program. The individual will be required to perform three essential Malcolm Baldrige School of Business functions: student retention, program management, and teaching. There will also be other responsibilities as outlined by the Dean or Assistant Dean, but these are the three key areas of the position.  This is a full-time position within the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business with full management oversight of the program, including student retention. 

The Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University seeks Scholarly Practitioners for all faculty positions. This means we seek individuals with Terminal Degrees and 10 years or more of experience in the field of study. In addition, we prefer to hire individuals who have proven track records in teaching online and learning.

Committed to a student’s first philosophy, the Program Chair must be able to assist in the development and execution of the strategic plan for the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business and live our mission to maximize student success. This opportunity is on Post’s main campus in Waterbury, CT, and is not a remote position. 

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Developing academic concentrations, courses, and/or programs and/or overseeing their development by outside parties as requested by the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
  • Using Blackboard to develop and deliver online courses.
  • Maintaining the online courses under their supervision 
  • Participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of the adjunct (associate) faculty.
  • Assist Associate Faculty, students, and other university staff with questions or concerns about the curriculum and program.
  • Assign instructors to, and monitor their performance in, online courses each term.
  • Participate in various university committees as a member of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business and as a Program Chair.
  • Assist with addressing and resolving grade appeals, grievances, or other administrative matters as warranted.
  • Assist in growing program enrollment by engaging with local businesses and professional organizations. The Program Chair will also help ensure that admissions representatives and advisors are familiar with the various degree options within the Management Program. 
  • Support student retention and help improve graduation rates within the program. This includes understanding the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policies, fostering an engaging classroom environment, addressing individual student needs, and reinforcing expectations for Associate Faculty.
  • Represent the program by attending key University events such as graduation ceremonies, open houses, and other recruitment or community functions.
  • Organize and participate in administrative activities as assigned by the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business, including maintaining program advisory boards, supporting program evaluation efforts, contributing to accreditation processes, etc.
  • Advise students on matters related to academic progress, career planning, internship opportunities, and graduation requirements.

General Academic Program Requirements:

  • Teach 8 courses per academic year or as otherwise determined by the Assistant Dean or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
  • Participate in at least two university committees or as otherwise determined by the Assistant Dean or Dean of the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business.
  • This position reports directly to the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business. 
  • Work with a team of Program Chairs and University staff to maintain and develop the program and curricula. 
  • Collaborate with the Dean, Assistant Dean, Program Chairs, and University staff to increase retention and graduation rates of the Bachelor of Science Management program. 
  • Serve as an ambassador for the discipline, the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business, and Post University
  • Other projects and/or administrative duties as determined by the Assistant Dean and/or the Dean.

Required

  • Master’s degree in the Bachelor of Science Management area(s) of instruction. 
  • At least 10 years of experience working in a business environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience teaching online using Blackboard or similar programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative reasoning skills. 
  • The ability to perform scholarly activities as appropriate when warranted or requested.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, well organized, and a team player in a fast-paced work environment.

Preferred

  • Ph.D., preferably in the Bachelor of Science Management area of instruction; or an MBA in Management will be considered if the focus was on applied mathematics or Business Analytics.
