POSITION OVERVIEW

4MATIV is a rapidly growing company with an increasingly broad portfolio of consulting clients. The Consulting Engagement Lead / Vice President of Consulting will serve as the engagement lead for a portfolio of consulting clients, ensuring exceptional project delivery, trusted client relationships, and high-quality team performance. This leader will direct consultants and analysts in executing rigorous analyses, contribute to design and execution of analysis, oversee the development of polished deliverables, and credibly represent 4MATIV in client-facing settings.

This leader will report to the Chief of Client Services and play a critical role in scaling the consulting practice by building repeatable processes, mentoring staff, and identifying opportunities for expanded client partnerships. This position offers flexibility in location and schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Engagement Leadership

  • Serve as the primary engagement lead for designated client districts and agencies.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing credible and responsive partnership.
  • Facilitate client meetings and presentations, ensuring clear communication and actionable outcomes.
  • Translate client challenges into clear scopes of work and deliverables.

Project and Team Management

  • Scope, assign, and evaluate analytical and consulting tasks, ensuring work is completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Perform analysis with self-direction and accuracy, building models to optimize operations and enhance efficiency for school systems.
  • Review and refine deliverables, turning complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Maintain accountability for timelines, budgets, and overall engagement success.
  • Mentor and support consultants and analysts, building their skills in solution design, client engagement, and analysis.

Practice Development

  • Collaborate with the Chief of Client Services to define and refine consulting methods, templates, and processes for scalable delivery.
  • Identify and elevate best practices that improve consistency, efficiency, and impact of consulting engagements.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities for follow-on or expanded client work.

Requirements

The candidate should have education and/or experience working with large sets of data in an analytical capacity. The candidate should be detail-oriented and self-motivated in order to drive business processes to completion. The requirements for this position are:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public policy, education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Seven (7) years of analytic experience in a relevant field
  • Seven (7) years of consulting, professional services, or relevant leadership experience.
  • Proven track record managing executive-level client relationships.
  • Experience leading teams of analysts/consultants to deliver high-quality, data-driven insights.
  • Familiarity with K-12 education, public sector operations, or transportation/logistics.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python & SQL
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools, especially Microsoft PowerBI
  • Familiarity with route design and optimization concepts
  • Experience integrating SIS platforms with other data systems via SFTP/API
  • Experience leading process design and continuous improvement
  • Applied regulatory and privacy literacy to ensure compliant data handling and service design

  • Relationship Management: Strong track record of building trusted client relationships. Maintains consistent focus on the overarching purpose of engagements, ensuring project deliverables meet user needs, centering the user experience and perspective. 
  • Project management: Effectively manages multiple tasks, prioritizing work to deliver thorough, error-free results on-time. High capacity for leading and partnering with people cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
