The Senior Engineering Technician is responsible for performing complex technical tasks under limited supervision to assist engineers with electronic systems. This individual will be responsible for mentoring and coaching less experienced technicians.

Braemac / Symmetry Electronics is an electronic component distributor within the TTI Family of Specialists.  This is an on-site position at our Fremont, CA location. 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing.

Solves complicated mechanical or electronics problems involved in the operation of products.

Assists in general laboratory work including soldering electronic parts on boards, basic mechanical assembly, and other hands-on tasks as required for prototyping small electronic devices.

Assists engineers with fabricating and assembling electronics subassemblies for prototype models from schematics, rough sketches, and verbal instructions.

May completely troubleshoot an electronics system to determine cause and remedy for malfunctions.

May provide work leadership to lower-level technicians or interns.

Requires ability to use practical electronic theory, basic machine tools, and work from schematics and rough sketches.

Additional duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Associate degree in Electronics or similar field preferred. Five plus years’ experience in active design environment required. 

 

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lead and mentor Engineering Technicians.
  • Supervisory skills a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and PCB Assembly drawings.
  • Detailed component knowledge.
  • Hands on troubleshooting of electronic circuits.
  • 8D process for Root Cause Investigation.
  • Debugging skills to find build and design issues in assembled PCBs.
  • Hands-on knowledge of lab equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Working and practical knowledge of Microsoft Suite of tools.
  • ESD handling procedures known and practiced.
  • Component soldering skills an asset.
  • ESD Training Certificate a plus.
  • Soldering certifications per IPC Standards a plus.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards for PCB/PCBA a plus.

Pay Range:$33 - $35/hour.  Actual offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level and will be finalized at offer.
