Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a Geologist to join our Mt. Laurel, New Jersey or Lehigh Valley, PA Environmental Services team! The essential functions of this professional are to conducting geologic field investigations by implementing the project scope of services outlined in our proposal or the project work plan in a safe manner following project-specific health and safety requirements.  This position can be located out of our Mt. Laurel, NJ office or Lehigh, Valley, PA office.

Responsibilities:
  • Gather and interpret geologic literature and maps, regulatory requirements and technical guidance manuals related to the investigation (or exploration) techniques that are to be employed and in gaining an understanding of the site and area setting, and anticipated field conditions.
  • Collect and interpret field data.
  • Capable of conducting field mapping.
  • Prepare soil-boring and test-pit logs according to the standards required by the project.
  • Maintain field records in field books and data sheets, photo-document field conditions.
  • Collect and preserve soil, rock, water, and gas (including soil vapor) samples.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors such as laboratories, excavators, and drillers.
  • Assist with report preparation.
  • Using and maintaining field instrumentation applicable to projects, such as GPS units, survey equipment, Brunton Compass, photoionization detector, pumps and controllers, data loggers, air- and water-quality monitors.
  • Familiarity with geophysical instruments (ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic detector, gravity meter, resistivity array components).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or engineering geology.
  • 0 to 3 years relevant experience.
  • GIT certification or ability to obtain a GIT certification when/if required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including driving in the local area as well as out of town overnight travel on occasion monthly.
  • Supplementary certification or accreditation for asbestos inspection, lead-based paint or mold survey is a plus.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction a plus.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS is a plus.

Compensation: $26.45 to $31.98 per hour (depending on qualifications)
