Duties
Uses advanced professional knowledge and judgment to independently plan and carry out the clinical social work component of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) in accordance with program requirements and accepted standards of professional conduct.,Uses a variety of professional instruments and techniques to assess an individual or family and to assess the level of risk of a client.,Incumbent performs crisis intervention services and appropriate triage to assist in the protection and safety of victims and families.,Incumbent develops treatment plans based on identified problems, psychosocial factors and treatment capabilities.,Represents and serves as an advocate for the program and their families in obtaining services and support for their needs.,Explains requirements and needs, provides necessary information and documentation, and follow up to ensure acare plan is properly implemented for a client.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker (Family Advocacy): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. License Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker (Family Advocacy): Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. In addition to meeting the basic and license requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assessing incidents of abuse or neglect, providing individual or group counseling to abusers or victims, developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse or neglect, and reviewing clinical work of team members/co-workers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Selective Placement Factor: This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
