Work Study ProgramMinimum Qualifications:
- Must be an undergraduate student awarded Federal Work-Study funds through FAFSA.
- Must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Dallas College.
- Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (half-time) during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen..
- No outstanding institutional balances or registration blocks.
- Must have reliable transportation to off-campus worksites (if applicable).
- Completion of required Dallas College professional development training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring to students in reading, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Assist students with homework assignments related to literacy.
- Engage students in reading activities, games, and discussions to make learning enjoyable.
- Support the classroom teacher or program staff in creating a positive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and tutoring sessions.
- Communicate regularly with the site supervisor regarding student needs and progress.
- Adhere to all site-specific policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Participate in required training sessions related to literacy instruction and child development.
- Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
- Must be an enrolled student eligible for Federal Work-Study funding.
- Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with children and youth.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
- Ability to pass required background checks as mandated by the host organization.

Work Schedule:
- Part-time, flexible hours (typically up to 19.5 hours per week depending on eligibility), are determined in coordination with the site supervisor and student's academic schedule.
