What You Will Be Doing
Special Care Nursery located at Frankston Hospital is a Level 4 service that delivers high quality patient care with a focus on family centred care. Averaging over 650 admissions a year we have 13 cots but have the ability to flex up to meet patient demand.
As a Level 4 SCN we can provide care for neonates from 32 weeks gestation; deliver respiratory support(CPAP); accept any emergency admissions from labour ward/theatre with the expectation that we can assess, stabilise and manage neonates on SCN or until they can be retrieved by PIPER to a tertiary hospital. With admissions from labour and postnatal wards together with back transfers from tertiary units our focus is the emergency and ongoing care of premature neonates; common neonatal conditions and feeding support for babies and breastfeeding guidance for mothers. All new staff will be orientated and supported by our experienced SCN team and clinical educator to gain skills and competence to deal with both emergency and routine admissions to the unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document comprehensive nursing care within the Special CareNursery in accordance with best practice and Peninsula Health values.
- Ensure the safety of the public, patients, and staff in relation to the provision of a safe environment fromboth OH&S and Infection Control Perspectives.
- Complete all mandatory training as per hospital policy and participate in organised training and developmentactivities
What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
• Recent Special Care Nursery experience
• Working towards or having completed a postgraduate qualification in Neonatal/Health Management or NICU/Level 2 Course
• Do you have a Victorian Working with Children Check
