The Shop Foreman Assistant supports the Shipyard Foreman in managing daily operations on the shipyard floor. This position plays a critical supporting role in coordinating tasks, monitoring work progress, promoting safety, and assisting with workforce management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced industrial environment. This role helps ensure that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project goals and company standards. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities for Assistant Shop Foreman 

• Assist the Shipyard Foreman with day-to-day coordination of department crews and tasks.
• Support task assignments and ensure work areas are supplied with necessary materials and tools.
• Observe and report on work progress to the Foreman and identify any delays, hazards, or inefficiencies.
• Help maintain a visible presence on the shop floor to support productivity and quality standards.
• Serve as a liaison between crews, department leads, and the Foreman to ensure smooth communication.
• Relay updates, instructions, and safety messages from leadership to workers as directed.
• Help coordinate with other departments for equipment, materials, or technical support needs.
• Assist in tracking time, materials, and task completion for reporting to the Foreman or Project Management team.
• Help organize documentation and records as needed for workforce planning or project tracking.
• Contribute to improving workflow efficiency and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Preferred Qualifications for Assistant Shop Foreman 

• Prior experience in a shipyard, industrial, or construction environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of safety protocols and mechanical processes.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
