About Madison Correctional Facility:
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Madison Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry.  We strive to model best Correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The Madison Correctional Facility is a minimum security Correctional facility, of adult females. Madison Correctional Facility is located in Madison, Indiana. At Madison Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals are involved in programming and work various jobs, both on grounds and off. The goal is that through treatment and rehabilitation, the facility will help prepare incarcerated women to re-enter their community with more skills and confidence than when they arrived.  

 

Role Overview:

As a Correctional Caseworker, you will assess each assigned incarcerated individual's risk and needs; develop, implement, and review their individual case plan; and refer them to the appropriate programs, courses, and work assignments. You will also provide group and individual programming as required.

 


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

​The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Provide guidance to offenders on issues such as job assignments, housing changes, facility transfers, and other facility procedures. 
  • Act as a liaison between prospective employers, courts, community, and governmental agencies for the purpose of job development and release adjustment. 
  • Assess each assigned offender's risk and needs utilizing the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS). 
  • Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re-entry and release issues. 
  • Prepare documentation related to an offender’s temporary absences and progress reports, including case notes and program referrals over the course of an offender’s incarceration. 
  • Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders. 
  • Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders. 
  • Adhere to the re-entry policies to ensure all quality assurance job tasks are completed in accordance with policy.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) 
  • At least one (1) year related work experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field. Substitutions: Each one (1) year of related education may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. 
  • Within 90 days of hire, you must obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services.  
  • Must test negative on all drug screenings.  
  • Upon hire, the ability to successfully complete all mandatory training including the DOC Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
