Position Summary
The Telecommunications Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground telecommunications lines, including fiber optic and coax cable systems. This role involves working outdoors in various environments and weather conditions to ensure reliable service to customers. The Telecommunications Lineman uses specialized tools, climbing equipment, and vehicles to construct and maintain telecommunications infrastructure while adhering to safety and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground telecommunications lines.
- Climb poles and operate bucket trucks or lift equipment to access aerial lines.
- Pull, lash, strand, and splice coax and fiber optic cable according to specifications.
- Install and maintain hardware, terminals, closures, and related equipment.
- Read and interpret work orders, maps, and construction drawings.
- Perform troubleshooting and testing to identify and resolve service issues.
- Ensure all work meets industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, diggers, and line equipment in a safe manner.
- Respond to service outages, storm damage, or emergency repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and test results.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in telecommunications line work or related field preferred, however training is available if needed.
- Knowledge of aerial and underground telecommunications construction practices.
- Familiarity with fiber optic and coax splicing methods preferred.
- Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to 100 feet.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety regulations.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and emergency response.
