Love What You Do and Why You Do It!
Join a mission-driven organization dedicated to empowering students for a global future. At Participate Learning, we have partnered with schools since 1987 to prepare students for career success through cultural exchange, dual language, and global learning programs. Our goal is to help students build essential bilingual fluency, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Dual Language Instructional Assistant (DLIA), your main duty is to provide instructional support for students and teachers in our Dual Language Spanish immersion classrooms. The DLIA may serve in one or more Participate Learning dual language program schools within the same geographic area based on need for coverage or support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Instruction: Empower students by leading small groups in Spanish across different subjects, including literacy rotations, to improve their language skills and academic abilities.
- Collaborative Planning: Work with the lead teacher to create lesson plans, instruct students individually and in groups, and prepare classroom materials like photocopying and laminating.
- Classroom Management: Help establish and enforce rules to maintain an orderly classroom environment.
- Taking the Lead: In the absence of the lead teacher, you'll be expected to take over the primary instructional role. This includes leading instruction in the target language, completing all daily tasks, and maintaining clear notes on student performance.
- Language Promotion: Promote cross-cultural activities and the dual language immersion program within the school and the wider community. Serve as a fluent Spanish-speaking role model for students, consistently using the target language to maximize their learning.
- School-wide Support: Support the school's and Participate Learning's policies and procedures across multiple dual language classrooms.
