About the Department
Position Duties
- Maintain and manage inmate medical records and the transfer of records and medications. Manage inmates medications to include obtaining prescription medications, monitoring narcotics and psychotropic medications, and inmate refusal of medication.
- Manage all aspects of inmate health to include, but not limited to management of inmates individualized treatment, completing an initial mental and medical health screening, determine inmate’s healthcare needs, and provide sick call and emergency sick call.
- Monitor all first aid kits, emergency medical supplies, equipment, inmate medication, AED, and general medical supplies.
- Review incident reports, use of force reports, and grievance reports for adherence to policy and follow-up on areas of concern.
- Available 24 hours on call services to the McKenzie County Correctional Facility.
- Provide statistical data to State and Federal agencies.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature of level.
- Understand the Century Code and be able to apply Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Perform annual staff education and training
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in a Correctional Facility, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Current ND licensure of a Registered Nurse
- CPR Certified
- Modern office practices, procedures, equipment, record keeping, word documents, filing systems and computer software and systems.
- Physical requirements and working conditions:
- Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, grasping, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Moderate work involves moving most of the time, walking and standing are required frequently.
