THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY OFFICE
The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office is dedicated to serving the community by objectively investigating and prosecuting matters under the law to attain justice. Protecting people’s rights and diminishing victim’s trauma while holding criminals accountable, are part of the daily regular operations. The District Attorney’s Office also collaborates with other departments and agencies and supports programs that focus on reducing crime.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Plan, organize, assign, supervise, and direct the work of Victim/Witness Program Specialists; providing technical assistance to staff.
- Participate in the development of the strategic plan to increase Program exposure and reach.
- Develop and implement Victim/Witness education and information programs; educate the public on the Program and services provided through speaking engagements and public presentations.
- Evaluate employee performance, mentor and guide employee development, and effectively recommends initial disciplinary action; assist in selection and promotion.
- Train staff in work and safety procedures and in the operation and use of equipment; implement training procedures and standards.

They collaborate effectively with law enforcement, courts, HHSA, and community providers, maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality, and model professionalism that strengthens team resilience and community confidence.
Alongside these strengths, the candidate brings experience in victim and witness advocacy, familiarity with Marsy’s Law and state victim services, and working knowledge of grant-funded program operations, including reporting and compliance. They are organized, adaptable, and follow through on casework, documentation, and procedure improvements that keep services consistent and accountable.
Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a counseling-oriented behavioral science program, psychology, social work, sociology, human services, criminal justice, or a closely related field;
AND
Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in a victim/witness program, crisis intervention, or closely related paraprofessional counseling, including one (1) year of experience as a lead or supervisor.
Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or a closely related field is desired.
Other Requirements
Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California or Nevada Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for a Victim/Witness Program Coordinator. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. - One (1) full-time vacancy in the District Attorney's Office, located in Placerville, CA.
Many job classifications require pre-employment medical screening. Depending on the job classification, medical screening may include drug testing; a positive test may result in the revocation of an employment offer.
Prior to conditional job offer, candidates will undergo a thorough background investigation.
As required by Internal Revenue Service Publication 1075, individuals in positions that have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI), will be subject to a background investigation and a criminal history check. In addition, individuals hired into positions that have access to FTI will be re-investigated at least once every five (5) years.
