ABOUT THE ROLE

The Commercial Analytics Manager is responsible for providing insights and recommendations that will directly influence strategic initiatives and overall business objectives. Reporting to the Director, Commercial Analytics, the manager will be a strategic thinker with highly competent analytical skills. This role will drive business growth and profitability by analyzing commercial data and providing actionable insights to drive business growth and optimize commercial strategies. By using multiple data sources, both internal and external, to evaluate and communicate analytics for supporting organizational needs and functions. They will play a critical role in helping the company make informed decisions by leveraging strategic analytics and industry knowledge. Additionally, this role, along with their direct reports, will provide ongoing reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis and recommendations based on a variety of sources. Collaboration and overall partnership with field sales, upper management, marketing, merchandising, operations, and finance to ensure profitable, successful, and financially rigorous execution of business plan objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Oversees the management of Analyst(s) in alignment with the business goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes commercial data from various sources to conduct thorough analysis and identify trends, patterns, and opportunities, as part of the business performance management process, as well as on ad hoc projects.
  • Generates actionable insights and recommendations to improve commercial effectiveness, efficiency, and revenue generation.
  • Develops and maintains performance dashboards, reports, and metrics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate insights to stakeholders.
  • Evaluates and improves processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Incorporates AI and other analytic techniques over time.
  • Identifies bottlenecks, gaps, and areas for improvement across commercial functions and proposes solutions for streamlining and maximizing efficiencies.
  • Monitors and analyzes market dynamics, competitors, and industry trends to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Provides analytical support and insights for strategic projects, new product launches, and pricing strategies.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing guidance and recommendations based on data-driven insights.
  • Leads and mentors the team of Analysts, fostering their personal growth and ongoing development.
  • Provides input to Commercial Strategy in the development of commercial plans. 
  • Provides input to Commercial Strategy and FP&A in the development and improvement of rolling, annual and long-term forecasts.

 WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in data analytics, ideally with a sales/commercial focus 
    • Ability to clearly synthesize and analyze data from a variety of internal and external data sources.
    • Advanced level of analytical skills and the ability to use internal systems and syndicated data sources.
    • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, analytical/problem solving, problem management, presentation development, presentation, and communications skills
  • Experience in apparel, distribution, and b2b all a plus.
  • Experience directly managing, growing, and mentoring highly functioning analysts.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into goals and measurements.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in ways that sales leaders and other functions will understand.
  • Experience identifying and calculating key performance metrics and related data platforms.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including comfort manipulating and analyzing large datasets, experience building complex and dynamic Excel models, deep familiarity with BI/visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
  • Familiarity with data infrastructure and ability to write queries for data validation (SQL preferred)
  • Familiarity with Generative AI and current and potential future applications to forecasting, performance management, and insight generation.
  • Excitement and ability to learn new tools and advance analytical capabilities quickly, mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related experience required.
