Our Interiors Division is looking for a year-round Human Resources (HR) Intern for its location in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Your mission, roles and responsibilities
The Human Resources Intern is responsible for aiding the Human Resources Department in completion of specific assigned tasks and projects. Through successful completion of these tasks and projects the Intern will obtain experience and knowledge within their field of educational pursuit within the automotive industry.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates new-hire orientation for interns and contract employees ensures new employees complete required forms, explains company policies, and benefits
- Recruitment and onboarding of interns
- Recruitment and onboarding of VIEs
- Updates Job Posting Board’s for AHTC HR Department, AHTC Atrium, Southfield Break Room bi-weekly
- Tracks Intern transcripts
- Maintain filing of employee records (ie. filing, establishing new files, transfer files, and term files)
- Updates New Hires, Transfers and Terminated Employees in appropriate systems (Training Plan, HSE Training Plan, COE/COE Training Plan, Contract Headcount and eValidate)
- Maintains training records in Training Plan and eValidate
- Create PO’s in SRM and confirm invoices in FC2
- Construct Site Newsletters bi-monthly
- Set-up Shop Floor Induction and Operational System School for new full-time employees
- Construct letters of employment verification and invitation/entry letters
- Event planning
- Coordinate HSE 13 Mandatory Rules and HSE Lockout Tagout for AHTC and Southfield
- Provides support to Human Resource Generalist and Manager as assigned
- Conducts Drug-Screening and Background Check process for new hires
- Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction
- Capitalizes on knowledge and shares best practices / lessons learned across organization and within the site
- Commitment to the highest ethical standards and adherence to:

- All other duties as assigned by the company
Your profile and competencies to succeed
Knowledge / Skills:
- Extensive computer knowledge required
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) knowledge, SAP a plus
- Experience with Hyperion (or similar reporting software)
- Superior analytical skills
- Result and detail oriented
- Great organizational skills
Education / Experience:
- Full or part time student
- Must be a currently enrolled student at an accredited university
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in one of the following: Human Resources Management, Human Resources Development or related field
