About the Position
Supervises only participants and exercises some independent judgment on class content. Distinguished from Swim Instructor II (WSI) by sole focus on water exercise programs.
The City of Cedar Rapids does not offer sponsorship for employment authorization.
Position Duties
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops balanced and effective workout routines;
- Leads participants in exercises and routines in accordance with generally accepted practices;
- Safeguards participant health and well-being;
- Promotes good relations with patrons and staff;
- Completes reports as required;
- Participates in staff in-service training sessions and meetings as required.
- Adheres to and enforces facility policies, rules and regulations and educates patrons about them;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices;
- Attends work regularly at the designated place and time;
- Supports City's continuous process improvement initiatives;
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Acceptable Experience and Training
- One or more years experience in water exercise at the participant level required. Previous experience as a water or land exercise instructor/personal trainer preferred.
- Current certification American Red Cross CPR preferred. Aquatics Exercise Association Water Exercise Instructor certification preferred.

- 2-4 hours/week teaching water exercise
