Position Summary:
Great things are happening at the Sister Schubert’s Horse Cave Campus and as we continue to grow the T. Marzetti Company is looking to hire team members who will grow with us on our journey towards world class operational excellence. The position of Machine Operator maintains the packaging machine within acceptable tolerances, maintains ongoing production to achieve schedule goals while keeping raw and packaging material scrap and downtime as low as possible. Performs product changeovers. Performs minor adjustments, maintenance and repairs to equipment within certification.

- Prepares the oven on a daily basis to start cooking rolls.
- Periodically monitors roll color, size and defects on proper documentation for each production shift.
- Inspect product as it comes out of the oven and discard undesirable product.
- Make adjustments to oven according to color and texture of rolls.
- Maintains standard production quantities/rates for each product.
- Communicate with supervisors and other operators to make adjustments throughout the production process to achieve desired results.
- Line 2 - Must be able to lift up to six (6) 31x31 metal pans per minute, weighing 30 lbs each with product, and place metal pans in racks for up to 25 minutes.
- Line 3 – Requires two associates to lift up to six (6) 39x39 metal pans per minute, weighing 40 lbs each with product and place metal pans in racks.
- Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food safety and productivity in the oven area.
- Initiates shut down procedure at end of production day.
- Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions; makes minor adjustments/repairs; communicates mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
- Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
- Notify supervisor and maintenance of equipment downtime.
Qualification Requirements:
- Prior machine operating experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and good math skills are required.
- Positive attitude and problem-solving mentality.
- Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats.
- Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast- paced environment.
- Regular on time attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
Working Conditions/Environment:
- Works in a manufacturing environment where the Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb, and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Must be able to push/pull 75 pounds short distances.
- Lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
- Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks.
- May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.
- SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Employees must inspect the condition of these items daily and replaced said items when they are no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
