SUMMARY:
The Facilities Custodian maintains clean, safe, and welcoming administrative spaces through daily cleaning and maintenance activities at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. Working under the guidance of the Lead Custodian, this position ensures that all assigned areas meet organizational standards for cleanliness and hygiene. The role focuses on routine cleaning tasks and assists with special projects to support the overall facility maintenance program. As part of our team, this position directly supports our nonprofit community impact programs and our mission of empowerment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Routine Cleaning (60%)
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas including offices, hallways, and common spaces.
Restroom Maintenance (20%)
- Clean and sanitize restrooms.
- Restock supplies and maintain hygiene standards.
Waste Management (10%)
- Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Maintain recycling stations.
Glass & Break Area Cleaning (5%)
- Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of break rooms and kitchenettes.
Reporting & Project Support (5%)
- Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to the Lead Custodian.
- Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned.
Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cleaning experience helpful but not required - willing to train the right candidate
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; occasional travel between facilities may be necessary
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work as part of a team
- Basic understanding of cleaning products and equipment
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning duties throughout shift
- Attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean environments
- Dependable with consistent attendance
- Ability to work scheduled hours, which may include early mornings or evenings
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
