Responsibilities:
- Adhering to the highest standards of dental care, ethics, service, and professionalism, the General Dentist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating dental issues and maintaining oral health while building a positive relationship with current and prospective patients.
- Examine patients to determine the nature of dental condition utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Engage with hygiene team in providing timely, practical, periodic exams during patients’ continuing care visits.
- Diagnose and treat in coordination with our hygiene team - oral disease, periodontal disease, TMD, etc.
- Provide/prescribe preventive dental services to patients, such as prophylaxis, fluoride treatment, sealants, and oral and dental hygiene education.
- Provide/prescribe restorative and cosmetic solutions that support our patients' pursuit of long-term oral health and well-being.
- Counsel/support patients to help them ensure that they pursue ideal treatment choices and follow-up with optimum home care.
- Uphold the guidelines for timely palliative treatment and care for all emergency visits for new patients and record patients.
- Uphold the guidelines for effective charting to promote safe, legal, and ethical treatment and follow-up.
- When dismissing a patient, follow the ideal protocols for debriefs and baton-passes (both written and verbal) to create seamless teamwork between front and back.
- Provide clinical support for other Associates and practice staff.
- Support and enhance the practice’s systems, train and coach team members, and strive to achieve the goals and strategies of the practice.
- Participate in all staff meetings as part of our “guiding coalition” for continuous improvement and change by being prepared with assignments, offering insight, and engaging in brainstorming activities to support the practice goals.
- Actively participate in continuing education opportunities to expand skill sets.
- Continuously learn and grow through exploring and integrating new technology and clinical initiatives that promote excellent patient care and results.
- When not directly treating patients, follow-up on patients, market to our general and referral community, and participate in ongoing team marketing projects that make the practice well-known.
- Manage controllable expenses and meet or exceed budgets without impacting patient care in their practice.
- Efficiently and timely carry out administrative duties of patient care, chart recording and reporting, and follow up correspondence.
Coordinate with front office team to support ideal scheduling, financial arrangements, and continuing care compliance.
Required Licensure: State of Vermont Licensure in Dentistry
Required Education: A minimum of a Doctorate in Dentistry (DMD, DDS) (foreign equivalent is acceptable).
Required education must have included successful completion of coursework in the following areas:
- Pediatric Dentistry
- Periodontics
- Prosthodontics
- Endodontics
- Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
