Position: District Psychologist | FTE 1.0
Hazel Park Schools is seeking applicants for the position of District Psychologist, for the 2025-2026 school year. The Hazel Park community is proud and supportive of its schools, the staff and student population.
POSITION DESCRIPTION. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for educational assessments of regular education students and special education students. They will also be responsible for helping to plan and implement appropriate behavioral intervention techniques.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initiate, facilitate and/or coordinate Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) assessments in response to referrals for students suspected of being eligible for special education.
- Write up and interpret the results of assessments to referral sources and parents.
- Attend REED, IEP meetings, and other meetings.
- Assist the LEA in developing, analyzing, and evaluating individual, group, and system-level interventions.
- Provide consultation to parents, school personnel, students and others.
- Partner with representatives of other agencies in arranging and coordinating services to children with behavioral challenges.
- Complete all forms and reports in a timely manner consistent with ISD policies and procedures
- Solve problems in a professional, constructive, people-friendly manner.
- Attend relevant professional development activities.
- Support and participate in Multi-Tiered Support of System (MTSS) activities.
- Serve as a Team Coordinator within and between the ISD and local school districts, as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidate must meet Michigan State Department of Education criteria for full or temporary approval as a School Psychologist and have at least a Master's degree.
- Must have either a valid Michigan School Psychologist certificate or a Preliminary School Psychologist Certificate.
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- An ability to relate well to others and use good interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques, writing behavior intervention plans, functional behavior analysis, and implementing positive behavioral supports.
- Knowledge of and/or willingness to develop skills in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI techniques), Applied Behavior Analysis, and other similar programs will be helpful.
- Experience with students with behavioral challenges be helpful.
Compensation: In accordance with the Salary Schedule - H.P.E.A. Contract
Start Date: Beginning of the 2025-2026 School Year.
Reports To: Director of Student Services.
