Position Summary |
The goal of the MTSS Coordinator is to work collaboratively with district and school-level staff (administrators, school psychologists, curriculum coordinator, teachers, and others), for the systemic implementation of MTSS at the school level. |
Essential Duties |
MTSS: Leads and implements the schoolwide integration of MTSS Supports the development of required components for systems of interventions Collaborates with district and school staff on protocols associated with the Evaluation and Identification of Specific Learning Disabilities within MTSS Assists in organizing structures for school-level MTSS teams Collaborates with district and school level teams to compile, maintain, review, and report data for student needs and linking needs to appropriate interventions Provides training for school-based staff on MTSS-related topics Supports staff members in the development and use of instructional and behavioral support tools, functional behavior assessment, and behavior management plans Coach/support staff members on the use and methods of data collection Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students Complete classroom observations as needed Stays abreast of district and state policies on MTSS and ensures those policies are implemented correctly Testing: Oversees test administration for tests including but not limited to, the PSAT, ACT, Benchmarks, CDM, EOCs, and other standardized testing as required Monitors test administrations within the building. Responds to situations that may arise during test administrations Oversees the security and distribution of testing materials Assures proper test administration, test security, and testing accommodations within the school site Stays current on testing requirements and regulations by attending training sessions provided by NCDPI and the school district and communicates these responsibilities to school staff as appropriate Coordinates the school’s test administration schedule Conducts training of building-level test administrators and proctors, as required Analyze student and teacher performance data as needed by the Principal Maintains strict confidentiality and security of testing materials Additional Role Responsibilities: Ability to work cooperatively with staff, administrators, and support personnel in a team approach to solving individual student needs Ability to communicate orally and in writing with clarity to stakeholders Demonstrate ability to use conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills Demonstrate ability to plan, organize, facilitate, and implement meaningful professional development activities Ability to maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality throughout all duties Must model and maintain exemplary punctuality and attendance Performs other duties as assigned as needed by the Principal |
Education/Experience Requirements |
A Master’s degree in the field of Education is preferred A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required Must hold a current administrative or teacher license in the State of North Carolina Training and/or 3-5 years of experience with the MTSS process at the school level Training and/or 3-5 years of experience administering standardized tests and utilizing their results to support the school improvement process Superior interpersonal, oral communication, and written skills Excellent organizational and facilitation skills Sufficient and precise data preparation and management such that limited supervision or review is required to verify data High degree of proficiency in oral and written communication Ability to work effectively with people Technological savvy and aptitude for new systems |
