Reports to:  Principal

 

Start Date:   Immediately

 

Terms of Employment:  10 months

 

Qualifications: Teaching Certificate and Coaching Experience or Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

Salary:  Stipend Based on Qualifications

 

Position Summary: To provide enrolled students of secondary school age an opportunity to participate in interscholastic athletic activities that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

           

  1. Coordinates all game day activities including concessions, officials, and security.
  2. Provides leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches.
  3. Fosters good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
  4. Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
  5. Arranges all details of visiting teams' needs, including lodging, meals, towels, gymnasium services, and field assistance, as appropriate.
  6. Advises the principal and community schools coordinator regarding the non-school use of playing fields and facilities.
  7. Arranges field and gym practice schedules.            
  8. Keeps records of the results of all junior and senior high school athletic contests, and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award including athletic scholarship.
  9. Coordinates along with the director of environmental services the maintenance and upkeep of athletic fields and gymnasiums at all secondary schools.
  10. Works closely with principals of secondary schools and with the director of environmental services.
  11. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Superintendent, Administrative Athletic Director and/or Principal.
  12. Knows and carries out Board policies.
