Noon Monitor at South Lake Middle School

Hours based on student need  

 

Job Goal:      The Noon Monitor is an integral part of the district educational program, must like and get along with children, provides assistance and supervision to students, ability to apply behavior techniques in enforcing school rules and policies in an appropriate context, and enable students, through meaningful playground or lunch time leadership, to enjoy the group interaction and physical exercise. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Strong human relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable 

Responsibilities & Duties Include:

  • Supervise students in hallways, at playtime, and help maintain a harmonious atmosphere.
  • Organize students for entrance into lunchrooms and see that they go to assigned tables.
  • Organize groups for orderly dismissal from the lunchroom.
  • Direct movement of groups to and from playground and lunchroom.
  • Accompany a sick or injured child to home or hospital when assigned.
  • Maintain records and perform office work as assigned.
  • Provide written records of violations of the student code to the principal or other designated person.
  • Take part in in-service training programs.
  • Use judgment in observing and neutralizing inappropriate student behavior.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other staff members.
  • Communicate with, and obtain the respect and trust of, children.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions in an efficient manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
  • Employee shall properly implement Board Policy 3122, Policy 4122, and Policy 2260 on non-discrimination and shall comply with Federal and State laws and regulations, particularly Part 1 104 of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 CFR) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 

Terms of Employment:                      Class III; 1.50 hours per day

 

Compensation:                                  Entrance level: $12.67        Maximum level: $15.30

 

Benefits and compensation in accordance with Paraprofessional Collective Bargaining Agreement.
