The Role
- Early engagement with target businesses, from research and screening through to initial conversations
- Overseeing initial analysis of preliminary information
- Contributing to the development of deal proposals (pricing, structure etc)
- Leading the execution phase of the deal process, managing multiple diligence workstreams and the legal process through to completion.
- Building strong relationships with vendors, advisors, introducers, Sumer’s ExCo and Board, regional leaders and target management teams.
- Partnering with wider Sumer functions (finance, integration, risk, compliance and ops) to ensure smooth deal execution.
- Coaching and developing members of the M&A team to support internal progression and capability building.
Who We’re Looking For
- Solid M&A experience (corporate development, corporate finance, transaction services - we’re open).
- Strong understanding of deal structuring, negotiation and the diligence process.
- Familiarity with legal documentation and key commercial terms in transactions.
- Commercially astute with the ability to adapt approach to different circumstances.
- Trusted relationship-builder who can influence and engage at senior levels.
- Innovative thinker with the ability to solve problems creatively.
- A leader who’s as comfortable coaching others as well as rolling up their sleeves
