The Role
We’re looking for a curious, collaborative and detail-driven Group Finance Manager to join our high-performing Finance team on a 15 month MAT leave contract position– supporting the delivery of Mount Anvil’s ambitious growth plans and providing critical oversight of our group-wide financial performance.
In this role you’ll be at the centre of our Group Finance function, driving month-end close and preparing our internal reporting packs for the board. You’ll manage cash flow, lead weekly cash meetings, support funding arrangements, and oversee consolidation and audit processes. You’ll play a hands-on role in reviewing group management accounts, balance sheets and variance analysis, and you’ll help to coordinate with our offshore finance team to make sure the basics are watertight. Day-to-day you’ll manage one team member while ensuring our group deadlines are met to the highest standard.
You’ll be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with at least 2 years’ post-qualified experience, ideally trained in the Big 4 or a strong second-tier firm. You’ll bring experience in audit, internal reporting, and financial analysis, with the ability to prioritise, stay organised, and take full ownership of your work. You’ll be naturally detail-focused, able to spot issues quickly and methodically, and you’ll be confident reviewing the work of others while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability.
In the Finance team you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive and ambitious team that values openness, collaboration and candour. With new schemes and land acquisitions accelerating, this is an exciting time to join.
Our high-performance culture is unusual. High performance in this role means taking accountability, being proactive and organised, and thriving under deadlines – whether that’s preparing a month-end pack, running a cash flow meeting, or reviewing key management accounts. You’ll be supported with coaching and feedback from day one, and encouraged to bring ideas, suggest improvements, and take ownership. We’re ambitious and fast-moving, but we’re also down-to-earth, collaborative and fun – unnecessary hierarchy has no place here.
Mount Anvil
What we do: We’ve worked in partnership for 33 years to create outstanding places in London. We’re growing, with our construction turnover doubling, and with a pipeline of new projects where we’re raring to get started and make a difference.
Why we’re here: We’re here to pursue better, differently.
Better: One of The Sunday Times’ “100 Best Small Companies to Work For” for over a decade, winner of multiple Pride In The Job and WhatHouse awards for our people and the quality of our homes, and proud to have the nation’s best site in our ranks (winning the highest possible marks across the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s five areas – the first site ever to do so in 22 years of the CCS).
Differently: Our culture is unusual. Different means more transparent with information. More direct with feedback that helps us all grow. More rigorous about setting goals, then giving more freedom to go and achieve them. It’s definitely not for everyone. We don’t hire know-it-alls, we hire “learn-it-alls”. As our CEO, Killian, says: “We work hard to find people who thrive on context and responsibility, rather than rules and procedures. We then work like owner managers, not a leader and a load of helpers.”
Benefits:
Private medical insurance for you and your family through Vitality (including discounts on spa breaks, cinema tickets and your food shopping, free Starbucks, 50% off Virgin Active Membership and more).
Income Protection Insurance to help you cope financially if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury, Life Assurance equivalent to four times your salary, your annual leave & Bank Holidays, enhanced maternity and paternity leave and workplace nursery salary sacrifice, allowing you to save tax and NI on monthly nursery fees.
We think the best benefit of being here is the learning culture and the ability to make a real difference – we dislike hierarchy and politics, and “not my job” isn’t in our vernacular. Which means if you really care about raising the bar and really want to feel connected to the end product, as opposed to like a cog in a big machine, this could be the place for you to grow your career.
