Job Responsibilities

The Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of ride-on rollers to compact and finish surfaces on construction, roadworks, and civil engineering projects. Duties include preparing work areas, compacting materials to required levels, and ensuring surfaces meet project specifications. Operators must complete daily equipment checks, report defects, and follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures. Effective communication with ground staff and site supervisors is essential to maintain quality and productivity.

Qualifications

• Valid CPCS or NPORS (with CSCS Hologram) card for ride on roller.

Experience

• Previous experience operating ride-on rollers in construction, roadworks, or civil engineering.
• Understanding of compaction techniques and ability to achieve required surface specifications.
• Good knowledge of site health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Ability to carry out daily machine checks and report any defects.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with ground staff and supervisors.
