Freeda offers a range of services for women and their children experiencing domestic abuse. Clients do not need residential qualifications to receive help or to stay at Freeda; they are given the opportunity to talk confidentially about their situation and offered advice and guidance appropriate to their needs by qualified staff.

The Education & Community Engagement Facilitator will lead on delivering engaging, trauma-informed training and awareness sessions to schools, workplaces, public sector agencies, community groups and the wider population. They will be skilled at interpreting training needs, developing creative and impactful content, and facilitating sessions in an empathetic, inclusive and engaging style.

The role also supports the delivery of self-development groups for adults and young people accessing Freeda’s services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training & Facilitation

1.1  Identify, interpret and assess training needs across schools, workplaces, public sector bodies and community groups.
1.2  Plan, design and deliver high-quality, trauma-informed training workshops and resources tailored to different audiences.
1.3  Ensure training content is creative, evidence-based, inclusive and accessible.
1.4  Evaluate and monitor training delivery, using feedback and data to measure impact and inform continuous improvement.
1.5  Develop positive relationships with schools and youth settings to deliver PSHE and prevention-focused education.
1.6  Design and deliver awareness training and workshops to health professionals and other key and frontline workers.
 1.7  Contribute to the design and facilitation of self-development groups that promote resilience and recovery.
1.8  Responsible for managing own admin and training logistics, and supporting colleagues in this as required.
1.9  Champion equity, diversity and inclusion throughout all work.

 2. Community Engagement & Partnerships

2.1  Build and maintain supportive partnerships with professionals and community networks to extend Freeda’s reach.
2.2  Actively participate in and promote Freeda’s work at community events and throughout awareness campaigns to raise understanding of domestic abuse and VAWG.
2.3  Identify potential partnership opportunities at community events to introduce to the Business & Partnerships Manager.
2.4  Nurture a collaborative approach between the Prevention and Partnership teams to enable a cohesive approach to supporting Freeda’s aims in addressing domestic abuse and VAWG.
2.5  Work closely with the CEO to deliver special projects as delegated, such as developing our partnership with men’s mental health charity, Kerouac Adventures.
2.6  Signpost or refer individuals appropriately to Freeda’s support teams.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications & Training
  • Experience as a teacher, trainer, youth worker or facilitator working with young people and/or adults – Essential
  • Level 3 teaching/training qualification (e.g., Award in Education and Training) – Desirable
  • Formal/informal training in gender-based violence issues – Desirable
  • Trauma-informed practice training – Desirable
 Knowledge & Understanding
  • Sound understanding of domestic abuse and/or VAWG, including its impact on adults and children – Essential
  • Awareness of trauma-informed and anti-discriminatory practice – Essential
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles when working with young people – Essential
 Experience 
  • Independently designing and delivering workshops/training to young people in schools, youth settings or community groups – Essential
  • Independently delivering training to mixed audiences in at least two of the following settings: schools, workplaces, public sector, community – Essential
  • Sound understanding of monitoring, evaluating and reporting on training programmes – Essential
  • Partnership working with professionals and agencies – Essential
  • Conducting needs or risk assessments in safeguarding contexts – Desirable
 Skills, Qualities & Abilities

  • Empathetic and engaging facilitation style - able to adapt to different audiences
  • Strong classroom/group management skills when working with young people
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Passionate about Freeda’s work
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills; able to set and manage own workload
  • Confident IT skills, including online delivery platforms
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Resilient, consistent and flexible

Benefits

Freeda will contribute 5% towards the pension scheme of the employee, following successful completion of their probationary period.
