• Directs the functions of the Maintenance Operations and Transportation Departments through the supervision of the department supervisors as well as the supervision and evaluation of the grounds/maintenance, custodial, skilled workers, and transportation personnel of the District.
• Confers with appropriate personnel regarding methods and procedures of work, supply, and equipment requirements and operational problems and conflicts, assisting with and solving existing problems and determining future requirements of personnel and materials.
• Establish work assignments, set priorities, train, and review the work of departmental management and supervisory personnel
• Oversees and directs the planning and scheduling of student transportation routes and the assigning and reassigning of drivers and equipment.
• Establish standards of performance for each position supervised
• Devise, conduct, and arrange in-service training programs.
• Monitor federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing District facilities and maintenance.
• Regularly visit school sites and confer with school officials regarding problems pertaining to the above mentioned activities and problems relating to custodial activities and to inspect buildings and grounds for maintenance, safety, and security.
• Assist in the preparation of specifications for bids.
• Prepare, maintain, and administer a variety of budgetary and departmental requests, records and files; monitors budget accounts on an ongoing basis.
• Recommend policy, personnel and procedural improvements.
• Assist in site acquisition, developing list of potential sites and evaluating sites for cost of construction as well as safety.
• Act as the representative of the school district on construction projects and on a variety of business services and related matters.
• Work with architects, school supervisors, and contractors on the planning, design, construction or alteration of school buildings and landscaped areas,

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position.
A typical qualifying entrance background is completion of formal or informal training in construction and maintenance of large buildings or a closely related field; and/or Completion of college level course work leading to completion of a major in architecture, engineering or closely related field; and/or Administrative level experience directing the maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction of large buildings; additional experience in public/school transportation.
LICENSES REQUIRED: Possession of a valid appropriate California Driver’s License with proof of automobile insurance.
