NOTE: This is a weekend position, Friday - Sunday, 12-hour shifts


Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Powder Coat Painter to join our finishing team. The Powder Coat Painter is responsible for applying powder coatings to metal or other materials using spray guns and automated systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in surface preparation, coating application, and curing processes, and will be committed to maintaining high-quality standards and workplace safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare parts and surfaces for powder coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, or blasting as required.

  • Apply powder coating to parts using electrostatic spray guns in a spray booth or on a conveyor system.

  • Set up, operate, and maintain powder coating equipment, including spray guns, booths, and curing ovens.

  • Monitor coating thickness and coverage to ensure consistent, high-quality finishes.

  • Load and unload parts on racks, hooks, or conveyors with attention to handling and spacing.

  • Bake coated items in curing ovens for specified times and temperatures.

  • Inspect finished parts for defects such as runs, sags, or uneven coverage, and touch up or rework as needed.

  • Follow color and finish specifications according to production orders or blueprints.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including daily cleaning of booths and tools.

  • Report any equipment issues or quality concerns to the supervisor promptly.

  • Comply with all safety protocols, including PPE usage and proper ventilation procedures.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1+ years of experience in powder coating or industrial painting (preferred, but not required – training may be provided).

  • Familiarity with powder coat materials, application techniques, and curing processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, part drawings, and color codes.

  • Basic understanding of quality control and inspection tools.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods.

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in work.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.


Preferred Experience (Optional):

  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and large-volume production.

  • Knowledge of pretreatment processes such as phosphate or chromate conversion.

  • Forklift or pallet jack certification (if material handling is part of the role).

  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards for industrial painting/coating.
