Description of Position 


The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Institutional Effectiveness is an administrative faculty position and has the following broad areas of responsibility: 

  • Direct institutional research  
  • Coordinate university-wide assessment efforts 
  • Oversee institutional accreditation process and systems 
  • Support strategic institutional initiatives 

This position is a full-time, 11-month, faculty position and reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  


Essential Functions 

  • Coordinates the presentation and effective dissemination of institutional data through various Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards to University stakeholders 
  • Collaborates with the Registrar to collect and report academic data, which includes enrollment, retention and graduation rates, student-faculty rations, department/faculty load, and low-enrolled courses 
  • Coordinates institutional data reporting for the following: Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS),  IPEDS Primary Keyholder, International Board of Education (IBOE),  Common Data Set (CDS), Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) benchmarking reports, ad hoc requests  
  • Oversees dissemination of Institutional Research data both internally and externally
  • Coordinates institutional responses to national surveys including US News & World Report, Barrons, CollegeBoard, Peterson’s, etc. 
  • Provides institutional research oversight and support for various institutional initiatives as assigned 
  • Facilitates both academic and non-academic department assessment by coordinating and tracking departmental assessment cycles
  • Builds systems to track post-graduation success 
  • Serves as the University’s Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) to the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
  • Oversees the University’s institutional accreditation planning and ensure accreditation work is completed in a timely manner 
  • Coordinates the preparation of NWCCU major reports (Mid-cycle, PRFR, Ad Hoc, and EIE) and evaluation visits
  • Assists departments with the completion of discipline-specific accreditation reports as needed
  • Serves as an NWCCU peer evaluator
  • Participates in shared governance through membership of the following councils, committees, and commissions: Deans’ Council, Academic Leadership Team, Institutional Accreditation Commission (Chair), Strategic Enrollment Planning (SEP) Commission, Academic Effectiveness Committee, General Education Council 
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

  • PhD or earned doctorate in related field 
  • 10+ years of experience in higher education 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience in academia, including experience at department chair or dean level 
  • Experience with higher education accreditation 
  • Highly efficient with MS Excel 
  • Competence with MS Power BI

Salary is determined based on educational background and experience.
