The purpose of this position is to "seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion." The plumber is a journeyman role that provides expert plumbing skills by inspecting, removing, repairing, and installing all pipes, valves, fittings, pumps, and related equipment to ensure adequate functioning of all water, waste materials, gases and liquids according to specifications and plumbing codes, for all Headquarters Facilities.

This position qualifies for the Sign-On Incentive and Bi-Annual Retention Incentive for new employees who fill positions that have been hard to fill and will be working within HQF Facility Maintenance.

The retention incentive will be contingent upon the employee’s continued employment with the HQF Facilities Maintenance Team during the specified period.

For the new hire to receive the retention incentive, they must meet performance expectations throughout the program, determined by their manager during 1:1s and evaluations. Final decision will be approved by the Facilities Maintenance Manager, upon approval, Human Resources department will initiate the necessary steps to disburse the incentive in a timely and efficient manner.

Sign-On Incentive 

$500 paid upon completion of the employee’s first 2 weeks.

Bi-Annual Retention Incentive

$2,000 paid out over a period of 2 years structured as follows:

Responsibilities

•   Performs all duties of Journeyman Plumber and ensures that all work performed adheres to National Plumbing Codes.
•   Remodels, maintains, and installs piping systems and components including air, culinary, gas, fire sprinklers, D.W.V., chemical, etc. Installs, maintains, and replaces plumbing related commercial and residential plumbing fixtures and equipment.
•   Operates machinery to accomplish pipe threading, roll grooving, pipe freezing, electric and manual drain auguring, jetting, etc.
•   Test PH levels in grease traps. 
•   Operate cameras and locaters as needed.
•   Pipe fitting may be required such as soldering, welding, brazing, and mechanical fittings of piping systems. 
•   Accessing lines in tunnels, pipe chases, above ceilings, below floors, and excavations, etc. 
•   Testing of backflow systems. 
•   Conduct work and maintenance on steam to water units. 
•   Required to work outside of regular business hours and/or work overtime as needed.
•   Performs other tasks as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

•   High School Diploma or equivalent.
•   Requires four-year Plumbing apprenticeship through an applied technical college, in conjunction with four years on the job training.
•   Requires current licensure as a Commercial Master or Journeyman Plumber license in the state of Utah. 
•   Able to operate the equipment listed above as well as equipment commonly used in the plumbing trade. 
•   Experience in commercial and/residential plumbing preferred. 
•   High school diploma or equivalent.
•   State of Utah Backflow Certification preferred. 
•   Proficient electronic or paper blueprint reading experience preferred. May be required to become DOT certified.
•   Valid driver's license.
•   Must pass all required safety and equipment certifications and trainings.
•   Can understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety.
•   Capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed.
•   Able to work in a professional manner with others as well as alone without constant supervision.
•   Maintain a positive attitude with the ability to work as a team. 
•   Can independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds with lengths more than 10 feet on a regular basis.
•   Can team lift and position objects weighing as much as 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
•   Able to work on ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts for extended periods of time. 
•   Able to work in standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, sitting positions for extended periods of time. 
•   Requires full range of physical motion to operate manual and electrically powered tools and equipment. 
•   Requires physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate hand and power tools and equipment. 
•   Must have at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision.
