Position Overview

The Compensation Specialist plays a key role in supporting the Total Rewards team by assisting with the administration and analysis of the Foundation's compensation programs. This role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of compensation principles who is looking to expand their skills and knowledge within a dynamic HR function. Reporting to the Director, Global Compensation and Benefits, the Compensation Specialist is responsible for data analysis, maintaining compensation systems, supporting compensation programs, and providing critical insights to the team.

 

Pay Range: $77,000 - $90,000. This represents the present low and high ends of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.


Work Schedule: This role is on a hybrid work schedule, and required to be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of compensation programs, including salary reviews, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Help conduct market research and salary benchmarking studies to ensure the organization’s compensation is competitive within the industry and region.
  • Assist in analyzing compensation survey data to help inform compensation decisions and recommendations.
  • Prepare and present compensation-related reports, highlighting key data points and trends that inform business decisions.
  • Assist with the analysis of compensation data to identify opportunities for internal equity, external competitiveness, and alignment with Foundation goals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, compensation guidelines, and internal policies.
  • Assist in the documentation of compensation decisions, including job evaluations, salary ranges, and incentive program details.
  • Maintain and organize compensation data, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of salary information.
  • Assist in preparing reports on compensation trends, including market competitiveness, pay equity, and internal alignment.
  • Work closely with HR colleagues, Finance, and other departments to support compensation-related activities and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Provide assistance to HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, and managers on compensation-related inquiries and requests.


Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Generally expected to have 3 years of experience in compensation, HR, or data analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of compensation practices, including salary structures, pay equity, and market benchmarking.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain and manage large datasets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, SAP).
  • Ability to work independently with supervision and guidance from senior team members.
  • Ability to apply problem-solving techniques to compensation data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present compensation data and insights clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure compensation programs are aligned with organizational needs.
  • Plays a key role in ensuring internal equity, market competitiveness, and the smooth administration of compensation initiatives.
  • Experience with compensation-related software is a plus.
