$1,000 Sign-On Bonus (after 90-days)

This is a hybrid role that will assist with functions in two departments. The role is responsible for the production of blood components from whole blood, plasma and platelet donations while adhering to standards and guidelines issued by regulatory and accrediting organizations such as FDA, AABB, OSHA. 

Hours: Monday – Friday 6:00pm to 2:30am

Components Lab Hours: Monday – Friday 6:00pm to 10:00pm 

Testing Lab Hours:  Monday – Friday 10:00pm to 2:30am

 Responsibilities:

  • Makes, labels, and documents preparation of components. Collects and submits components for product Quality Control (QC) and employee competency testing as requested.  
  • Prepares and ships daily collection of donor tubes to testing facility.
  • Perform platelet counts on the hematology analyzer, as needed.    
  • Manufacturer’s platelet apheresis products to include: Performs sampling for bacterial detection for components. Performs platelet counts on the hematology analyzer. Performs apheresis product splits as needed.  
  • Assist or performs Components Laboratory equipment QC and maintenance and maintains records as required. Receives and reviews test results for donor samples from testing lab vendor. Communicates via phone and email with testing lab vendor.  

Work Environment: This position regularly involves the following:

  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally fulfill basic clerical duties (typing/writing).
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequently bend or reach to perform various job tasks.
  • Analyze complex situations and make sound decisions.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Frequently perform repetitive motion tasks/precision work.
  • Visually differentiate and identify specific colors, and various shades

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in laboratory science, MLT, CLS, MLS (ASCP) or equivalent, preferred; minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or life sciences with appropriate combination of laboratory experience may be substituted for MLT credential. 
  • One or more years of blood center product manufacturing experience, preferred.
  • Microsoft proficiency, with the ability to effectively navigate web-based applications and company systems.
